What better way to meet you all after a long gap than a monthly update post? So here I am with the October update.
While I feel like have to search for words to type and things to say, I am sure it is just that I feeling a bit rusty and it would get better soon. Here we go.
Quick October’19 updates
- I flew to Macau, China for getting my recovering cousin back home to India. Thanks to the flight schedule and the time zone changes, I went about 33 hours without sleep, my longest ever.
- I also traveled down to Langkawai and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for a well deserved holiday after the hectic and emotional months.
- Got out of the stupid reading slump and I am currently on a reading spree. (More on that below.)
- And last week I joined a fitness gym and am hoping that I would hit it often enough to get my money’s worth.
- I am holding the best for the last. The summer in Dubai is long gone and we are hanging on to that shortest period between summer and winter which means the weather is pleasant and the sky is blue. And am loving it.
What I read this month:
So I beat off the slump I was talking about in my last post and I did good in October, almost back to my normal reading I suppose.
- What you did by Claire McGowan
- On the come up by Angie Thomas
- Dinner, The by Herman Koch
- Unhoneymooners, The by Christina Lauren
- Elevation by Stephen King
Now if only I can get my ass to start reviewing them as well!
What I watched this month:
Between the long travel time and the slump I had a lot of movies that I caught up with.
- Booksmart – With that name, obviously I had to watch it but felt let down.
- A simple favor – It had Anna Kendrick who is a vlogger and enjoyed this one.
- The Book Club: (You seeing a pattern? Well, I am a book blogger.) I was so bored and I did not like it.
Oh I found this animated series called Larva island on Netflix and I am totally in love with it.
On my blog
And hey I published a post this week.
So take a look at the review of Vice/ Virtues by Beatrice De Soprontu here.

Remember a while ago I posted that I was taking some break as I was visiting India? Well, I did and then some.
I had to travel to Macau, China as one of my close family member was hospitalized there while on a trip. And then I returned to a mold infested house back in Dubai, no thanks to the scorching summer and a broken AC.
Well, now I am back to blogging from a cleaner house and a reading slump that I am struggling to get out of. I will definitely share some beautiful pictures from my travel soon.
So that is my sad little story, so what about you? What did I miss in these two months?
What I read this week
I am not at all proud to say I have not read a book since the end of July. At least I had solid reasons for that, during August.
It has been almost two weeks since I returned and I can’t seem to find some time to read. And even if I did, I can’t get myself to focus. Can I blame it on the mold infestation?
But now that I am done with all those pesky household chores, I am determined to get it over with and I am hoping The Bookish Life of Nina Hill will be the book that will pull me out of the abyss.
What I watched this week
On the bright side, I have been catching up with a lot of TV shows that I had missed due to my travels.
- I loved and adored the Money Heist new season S4. And my dislike for Tokyo has heightened. Fight me, Tokyo-fans!
- All those who recommended me the K-drama Love Alarm, thank you! I loved everything about it, except for the fact that I have to wait for the next season.
- I also finally caught up with The Ranch. I didn’t love it but it was okay.
On cinemas I watched IT: Chapter two and the Ad Astra.
I liked IT better than Ad Astra, being the horror and Stephen King fan I am. Even though this second part had a lot of things going as expected, I missed the nostalgic 80s warmth and humor.
And I found Ad Astra to be too damn slow for my liking, despite loving the premise and visual grandeur of the film.
On my blog
Obviously I have nothing new to show under this topic, so I am gonna go ahead and link to some of my popular posts of all times, in case you have missed it earlier.

I have been seeing this tag for a long time now and here I am finally trying to write my name with books from my TBR. So let us get on with the My blog’s name in books tag, okay?
I hope it doesn’t turn out too difficult with all the repetitive letters, but hey, I like every other bookworm here I have a never-ending TBR.
Rules
- Spell out your blog’s name.
- Find a book from your TBR that begins with each letter.
Note
You cannot add to your TBR to complete this challenge – the books must already be on your Goodreads TBR.

This week went by swiftly right? At least it did for me. And are you ready for some rant? Ready or not, it’s comin’.
Do anyone of you get nightmares?
I love dreams, which are quite rare for me, as I sleep really sound and most nights I don’t stir until the morning. Then there are nights with these terrors. And you know what is the worst part? I wake up in between them, drink water, distract myself with my mobile phone or just taking a walk to the loo and then when I get back to sleep, those stupid nightmares continue – as if they have been on a pause. What is wrong with me, I say?
And to think that I bring these upon myself! Everything I dream of comes from a book or movie/series that I watch. I read a Stephen King, oh there will be at least two nights of terrors in a week or so. Oh I watched Sabrina this week and the nightmares followed. But would I give the horror shows or books up? Not doing it!
I watch a romantic movie or read a happily ever after book, do they ever turn up in my dream? No sir, they do not. I need to know why this difference. I might even consider accepting my fate if I was dealt with a fair set of cards and I had both nice and bad dreams. But no, I didn’t. So I am gonna stay grumpy about it.
And you guessed right, I didn’t sleep well last night and I am so tired!
What I watched:
So after a long and sad stretch of days without the TV and Netflix I am getting to it back with vengeance. And as you all know already, I watched The Chilling adventure of Sabrina and I loved it enough to give up a night’s sleep.
I loved Kiernan Shipka in Mad Men. I think she is beautiful and has done a fabulous job as the Sabrina. Oh I can’t wait for April for the season two and bunch of other reasons, AKA my birthday.
What I read:
Remember those classic challenges I picked up earlier this year? I am doing so great about it. Scratch that. I am doing alright about it. And I read Lord Fauntleroy, something I have never read before, for the children’s classic challenge.
It was sweet and poignant and sunshine-y all at the same time, somehow.
