Mother’s day and computer issues: Sunday Musings #74

Happy Mother’s day to everyone out there! Show your mom extra love from my behalf. I am gonna call her, just after posting this one!

It is another Sunday and it doesn’t mean anything anymore. Everyday has been similar to the previous and the lock down period is going to be a valid example for people who say that time is just a social construct.

A few weeks before the lock down started (oh seems to far away now) I got a HP laptop and it seemed to be working so well, until now. Since last week, it has been making a loud whirring noise every time I moved it, so loud that it startles everyone in the house without fail.

So currently I am using the laptop like a desktop, and I don’t think I can find the customer team to help me out. And that is totally bugging me out.

Happy mother's day! What is the plan today and what's happening with you? How has your week been? And what are you reading? Let us talk. Share on X

What I read this week

Oh so my reading finally improved and I finished Yes no maybe by Becky Albertalli and Aisha Saeed eventually last week.

I finished reading Building A Story Brand by Donald Miller too and it has been a really long time since I read a non fiction. So that is a yay!

I am currently reading

  • Atomic Habits by James Clear
  • The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary

What I watched this week

I have been so excited to mention about Broadchurch.

It has been a while since I liked a thriller as much as I did Broadchurch and it was so perfect, especially the 3rd season. I loved that I couldn’t guess the culprit until the end (trust me, usually I can find them a mile away – fictional ones obviously). And David Tennant was so perfect for the grumpy detective!

I am rewatching BROOKLYN NINE NINE. I love the series and am loving it even more the third time.

On my blog

I have not been so active last on my blog, due to the irritable laptop noise syndrome.

But hey I published a quiz for mother’s day. So that is not all lost.

  1. I love Brooklyn Nine-Nine. I’m currently watching the newest season on Hulu, but it’s one of those shows you can go back and watch, and it will always be funny. It’s childish humor, but presented in a smart way. Another good one I’d recommend that’s similar is The Mindy Project. Thanks for sharing and hope your computer stops acting up.

  2. I actually thought this was going to be a post about how you had to help your mum with her computer on Mother’s Day, because I’m forever doing that with mine ha ha ha

  3. Oh laptop not behaving itself is SUCH a tragedy. I’m glad though that it’s still functional Small mercies. Non fiction isn’t my choice of read too so a big Yay to you.
Need to get to Broadchurch. It sounds good but I’m wary of series – they draw me in and then I end up bingeing and then I feel guilty :-). Serious lack of self-control there. I prefer single episode sitcoms (I like Brooklyn Nine Nine) or films. Let me go check out your quiz.

  4. Technology is great until something goes wrong!! Thanks for the reviews of the Netflix series. I’ve been looking for something. Think I’ll try Broadchurch..

  5. I’m sorry to hear about your HP troubles. I seriously can never deal with computer troubles. To damn frustrating. I hope it gets better soon.
These days are definitely all looking the same. Sigh..

    Stay safe and happy reading.

  6. “time is just a social construct” lol. I’ve thought about that a few times and yes- this lockdown is definitely promoting that theory to my mind! 🙂

I should try that show! I love stuff set in the UK!

    Lovely pics as always.

  7. I sent my mom and mother-in-law texts this morning wishing them a Happy Mother’s Day and will call my mom this evening. I had flowers delivered to both yesterday. 🙂

I hear that a lot these days, about days blending together. I know they do for my daughter. I don’t know what that’s like though. LOL

I am really sorry for your computer troubles. It really is bad timing, especially when most people are relying on their computers more. Hopefully Michelle’s suggestions will help until someone can look at it if you still need them to. I feel for you! When my hard drive was going on my old computer at the beginning of the lockdown, I nearly went into a panic. I’m so reliant on my computer.

I have only seen the first season of Broadchurch and really enjoyed it. I like David Tennant.

I am glad your reading is getting better. I feel like I am reading a bit more, even if I am not moving through books fast. A little improvement is better than none, right?

I hope you have a good week. Stay safe and well.

  8. Computer problems drive me nuts! Hope you get yours settled soon.

Broadchurch has been on my list for a long time. I need to start it! Have a wonderful week!

  9. Sounds like the computer is getting too hot and the fan is kicking on. Try to clean out the area around the vent to make sure it is clear of dust or something else. When you use it try to put it up and lower some of your setting (ie, screen brightness) Some of those things can cause the laptop to overheat. The fan is working so that is a good thing but it kicks on like that when it usually gets hot (that’s what mine does) Just make sure when you use it on anything other than the table top to leave room for the vent to get air.

Those pictures are so nice! Such a beautiful view!

Have a great week, Stay Safe and Happy Reading!

  10. I also loved Broadchurch. I hope they have more seasons.

One of my big fears since the lockdown is what happens if my computer acts up? How can we get help? Good luck figuring out your computer’s issues. We are lost without them, aren’t we?

Enjoy your books and your week. Stay safe.
