Join the Comment 4 Comment Challenge 2019!

Being a successful blogger may mean different things to different people. But we all have to agree that getting a comment or a share on our blog definitely makes us a happy blogger. Even after a year of blogging on Elgee Writes I still love waking up to new comments on my posts.

Stop shouting into the void!

Blog engagement is crucial to making us motivated to keep blogging. It is that kind of validation we all love from our peers. Otherwise I might be just shouting at the void, right?

Well, we all need a community.

Last year I joined the 365 days commenting hosted by Read Write Love 28 and failed at it miserably. Obviously it was too much for me and I dropped out fairly early of the game. Apparently I need some encouragement and a lot of support to get to doing what I am supposed to do anyway.

Bloggers comment junction

So I asked for help from my dear bloggers in forming a community to continue visiting and commenting in each other’s blog. I was not surprised at the turnout because who would not want to make a new blogger friend right? You can still sign up for the bloggers comment junction here.

  1. I know I’m super late but I’m joining this & the bloggers commenting back this year! And Yes! Everyone loves comments! 🙂

  2. I entered! I do this currently, return all comments. But I don’t get that many! Would love to make some more connections. I saw this challenge in a post. Thanks for starting this!!

  3. […] never been short of people to talk to about books since then. She’s also signed up for Elgee’s comment 4 comment challenge and is excited to know more about everyone. Since you now know that Esmé intends to return every […]

  4. What a terrific idea for a challenge, Elgee. I stumbled across this post through Pinterest, and I’m glad that I did. I’ve blogged under a different name in the past, and I always tried to reply to all comments, though once I had to shut down a “discussion” that turned into an attack on one commenter from another. (I banned the attacker from my site.) Sigh.

Anyway, I recently started a new book review blog under my new pen name and though it’s hard to start over from scratch with no online friends, etc., I look forward to engaging with new folks through comments on my site, their sites, and elsewhere.

  5. I finally got my first bulletin board up so it has my sign up in there! YAY! I totally failed last year too but here’s to another try. 😉

  6. […] also neglected to mention that I would love to participate in Gayathri’s Comment 4 Comment Challenge 2019! The goal is to reply and comment back to all comments… this is a passion that I’ve […]

  7. Ohh what a great challenge I am all in! Elgee can you please delet number #39 for me I tried to remove my old post #39 but I don’t know how to remove it on linky. I will pst about this comment challenge tomorrow on my blog, thank you so much for sharing your awesome post.

  8. Great idea, everyone loves playing a game, I’m looking forward to seeing where this one takes us.

  9. This is clever! I love this idea more than the x blog comment challenge! I lost count after about a hundred, and I found it made me see commenting blogs as a means to an end, rather than attempting to form relationships.

I’m hoping to get back on comments this year despite my failing at them the previous three years (oops!), so I’m joining this with the hopes that it’ll hold me at least somewhat accountable!

…plus, I love receiving comments, and the best way to get on that is to leave comments myself! I also much prefer commenting people who are more likely to return the comment on my own blog, but it’s hard to find those bloggers as the numbers have dwindled long before I dropped the ball on commenting.

  10. Hello! This challenge sounds so fantastic! Replying to comments and visiting back is one of my goals so I LOVE this idea! I signed up right away! Thank you so much for hosting this and I can’t wait to find more bloggers!

  11. I am not officially signing up for this challenge, but I did give it a shoutout in my Bookish Resolutions blog post because it does mesh with one of my main blogging goals for the year, a goal that I’d been thinking about before I even found this challenge.

Wishing y’all the best of luck with the challenge in the new year though.

  12. Hi Gayathri, I joined this challenge. I am a fairly new blogger, hence, being part of the book-blogging community is essential to expand my blog’s reach. Thanks for initiating this challenge.

  13. Hallo, Hallo Gayathri!

I am so thankful I saw some blog coverage about this comment challenge – like you, I had an #epicfail at the other challenge last year – ironically or not, I also noticed the participants of that challenged stopped visiting me after January ’18, so I was not the only person dropping out of it. I did however, start to resume visiting blogs actively trying to be more proactive to comment on the blogs I follow and regularly read. In effect, I achieved a bit of what I set out to do but not the overall goal.

I am looking forward to this! Thanks for hosting!

      • Hallo, Gayathri,

There is only one disappointing factor so far for me – when I tried to leave comments on a few of the blogs I’m enjoying to read and wanted to add some notes for – I noticed they haven’t activated all comments – meaning only Google comments are allowed? I was disappointed as I really love Kimberley @ lattelipstickandliterature & Julie @ wholelatteideas – the only thing I can do is support them on Twitter.

There is an option for non-WP blogs to open comments to name/url – I used to love adding comments on those kinds of blogs when OpenID was around but nowadays I have to look for name/url in lieu of that.

I was wondering if anyone else was having trouble adding comments?

  14. totally agree that Blog engagement is crucial keep us motivated! So I love this idea so much. Unfortunately I realized challenges make me a little nervous, but I will be visiting a commenting a lot anyway! Good luck with the challenge!

  15. I can’t wait to take part in this! I’m starting my blog in the New Year and this seems like a fantastic way to get involved in the community while I’m finding my feet. What a fab idea, thanks for coming up with it 🙂

  16. I too failed miserably at the 365 comment challenge, I love the idea of this challenge! I always reply and comment on the blog already, but joining the challenge makes it more fun lol!

  17. See one of my goals it to do this, I’m not sure how I’m planning to do it all but I mean…I’ll figure out a way. So I’m down for this!

  18. Such a great idea!
I wish I could join but I already know that I’ll fail… I always answer the comments on my blog but going back to their blog’s… sadly I won’t have that time 🙁

    But good luck!

  19. Thanks for this info! I will definitely check it out once i am in the laptop. I love hearing from other bloggers and learning more about this community

  20. I am so in! Commenting is the biggest thing I am focusing on in 2019 and this is the perfect challenge for me 🙂 It’s also the only challenge (other than our AtoZ Challenge) that we are participating in this year!

  21. My main obstacles are time and sloth. I wouldn’t have time to read if I were spending it all online, plus, I am extremely lazy 😉

  22. I’m in !
I always try to do answer & return my comments to the best of my ability, it’s even in my bullet journal! So might aswell, eh ! 🙂

Loving how you always do your best to bring the community together xx
