Summer library visit: Sunday Musings #133

It is the time of the year for me to start complaining about the heat and humidity. LOL, summer here in the UAE has just started inching towards the peak. We had 43C and a 100% humidity all through the week.

And as if that is not bad enough, we had strong winds with dust (but not enough to call it a dust storm) to cause visual disturbances.

I have some guests from India who are visiting the country in summer for the first time, and they are shocked at the heat and summer. We had a good laugh about their reactions to the weather. Now maybe they will stop saying “UAE’s weather is not as bad as India”, as if that is a competition.

Last week I took a trip to my library and grabbed a bunch of books hoping it would cure my reading blocks. Will it work? Only time will tell.

And in all the excitement about new books, I misplaced my library card and noticed it only after reaching home. Thankfully, the volunteer librarian has deposited at the lost and found, so I can collect it the next time I visit.

What I read this week

After a long time, I have something to say under this header.

I just finished reading In a Perfect World by Trish Doller. It took me on a trip to Egypt and the book is told through a young adult’s view of life.

I didn’t love it, but it got me out of my slump. My recent visit to the library might help me get out of it, I hope.

What I watched this week

I watched Angry Birds and The secret life of pets on Netflix this week. I wanted to watch something mindlessly after long days at work, and these are the ones that popped up on my screen.

What are your favorite shows/movies to run in the background like a white noise?

I will be linking today’s post with Caffeinated reviewer’s Sunday post Meme.

Oh my gosh, that weather sounds rough! I am in Korea right now, and we are experiencing the end of a rainy monsoon season, so I can empathize with you in regards to the humidity (although it sounds like it’s much, much hotter over there). Wishing you a good week in reading and hope that you stay safe and well <3

We are relatively similar with temps and humidity right now though I don’t think our high temps last as long as they do in UAE. I’m not a fan – especially of the humidity! The weather competition always makes me laugh a bit. The main difference in the States in preparedness. In the South (where I am) we are prepared for the heat but not ice and snow or even cold weather because we rarely get much of it whereas up north it’s the reverse. Regardless miserable is miserable! I love some good mindless tv. I’ve been rewatching The Big Bang Theory and it’s so relaxing. Hope you’re having a wonderful week!

We’re having hotter than normal temps here in Florida, but I imagine it’s nothing compared to what you have there. Thank goodness your library card was found… don’t want to be without that! I hope that reading slump ends soon!

Oh my gosh! 43° C plus humidity! That sounds like the worst, lol. We get really hot weather where I am, over 100° F as well. But, we have a dry climate. Humidity makes the heat so much worse. I can’t even imagine. I hope you survive the summer, lol.

It’s been hot here too. For white noise type of shows, I like Family Guy, The Big Bang Theory and Two and A Half Men. I tried having the news in the background but that was too depressing. Oh, I also like to have the Game Show Network on in the background.

I hope you have a great week!

We finally got a break from our heat wave. Of course, it was because of rain. LOL Ooh, the library! I haven’t been since Covid happened. I think I’ll try to go next week.

Omg! That’s hot and even worse with the humidity! I thought it was bad here with it being 95 F (35C)!

I like watching The Big Bang Theory and Schitt’s Creek. Shows I don’t have to think a lot on, but that make me laugh. Stay cool! 🙂

Our weather is very hot, too, but one day this week, there was a gusty wind, unexpected, that stunned me. I guess I should read more of the weather reports.

Enjoy your week. Love the library photo.

Ugh, it’s just too hot. I tried to read outside yesterday, and I couldn’t handle it.

It has been warm, sunny and humid in my part of the world (England), however I am sure no where near what you have had! It has been a good, quiet week for me of work, re-reading the classic novel, Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen, and watching the Netflix docuseries, Keep Sweet, Pray and Obey.

Take care and I hope your library books help to get you out of your reading slump. 🙏🤞🙂

Summer with humidity is the worst!
The occasional reading blocks are so annoying. I am trying to get out of it by listening to audiobooks and trying to read light-hearted books as much as possible.
Secret Life of Pets is such a stress buster. I hope you enjpyed it.

I love summer, but I am fortunate to have a dry here here in Southern California. I don’t think I’d do well with your humidity.

Wow that’s hot. It’s heated up here too but we’re not in your league. 🙂

The Secret Life of Pets popped up in my feed tool, I kinda want to watch it. 🙂

Hope you have a nice week.
