Everyone is talking about the ultimate “hot girl summer” plans but here, I am dreading the summer. Well, that is sorta usual if you stay in a hot desert like I do.
Long story short, the summer is almost here and we are perfectly ready to “be roasted if you step out” during the day. But the nights are fairly pleasant, still.
And I am utilizing those few cooler nights to go on a walk (with masks on and socially distancing) these days.
What has your month been like? Do you like weather wherever you live at? What are your hot girl summer plans? Let's talk. Share on XQuick May’21 updates
What was your May’21 like?
- We are all trying to enjoy the last few days before scorching hot summer. So we found the parking full and crowded where we go. And obviously I hate it.
- There is still a ban on flying into UAE, and many other countries, from India, due to COVID. So I have a couple of friends who are still stranded there and trying to come back to their family and work in here.
- I had a full on reader slump and I barely read two books. And I am so behind on my reading challenges.
What I read this month
I read just two books in May’21 and they were quite short ones. But in my defense I had a terrible case of slump and didnt feel like reading anything. Hopefully June would be better.
- Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy
- Strange planet by Nathan Pyle
What I watched this month
I watched quite a bit of TV in May, thanks to all these time I saved not reading anything. Sigh. But here we are.
- Line of duty S6
- Rewatched The boys S1 & 2
- Rewatched Superstore all seasons
Currently watching Mom S5 on Prime

We need to resume our evening walks now that it’s lighter out later. We may actually make it home before dark! The summer heat is creeping up where I live as well–although likely not quite as bad as you have it. It’s expected to reach 40C (104F) this weekend. I hope you are able to overcome your reading slump soon and stay cool! Take care, Gayathri.
We are getting into the crazy hot days where I live now too. I tell myself every summer when school is out that I will get up early and go walk before the heat. But I am just not a morning person. I don’t trust the area where I walk enough to go when it is dark though, or else I’d steal your idea of waiting till it cooled off in the evening. Oh well. Hope you’re having a good week!

We’re enjoying sunny days, but instead of heat there are windy days in San Francisco, CA. Hope the reading is better for you this week.
I do love summer. I love all the sun and the not having to wear a coat and the long days. But we have winters with lots of cold and wind and gloomy days. Maybe if I lived in a desert I would long for winter? Hope you have a good week!
It gets very hot in the SE United States too (90-100 degrees (F) every summer day). Plus tons of humidity. You feel like your breathing in water. I stay in the wonderful airconditioning as much as possible, especially in July and August. Hope this week is better ❤
I am the complete opposite of hot girl summer. I am ‘girl melts summer’ and am not looking forward to it, but at least now with the vaccine I can feel a bit better about going to the beach I guess.
Sorry to hear about your reading slump and I hope you’re able to get some good reading in this month!
I love to walk and listen to audio books but it’s been too hot and humid lately. That’s okay, I’ll just read and perhaps listen at the beach or by the pool.
I hope you have a great week!
I was in a reading slump recently. I decided to pick up a few middle grade books as something different and really enjoyed them. Your Instagram pics are lovely! I’ve enjoyed being a part of Bookstagram, though my aesthetic is just meh, lol.
I binged Superstore last month too 🙂
Wishing you a great reading week
I definitely am that person that is just so happy about the warmer weather and more hours of sun. It does get really hot in my bedroom and classroom, but I’m just that girl that enjoys EVERY season when it comes peeking around the corner!
Good luck with the hot hot climate over there in Dubai.
I don’t think I could do with those desert temperatures. Yikes..
I just followed you on Instagram.. I thought I already did but apparently I didn’t.
Have a great week and happy reading.
I am sorry to hear that you have been in a reading slump and aren’t looking forward to the very hot summer. I hope you are able to stay cool and get reading again soon. 🤞
Here in the UK we are really pleased that the sun and heat (probably very mild compared to what you’re used to 😅), so I have been enjoying time spent outside and a trip to our local pool. 😎
I love walking at night when it’s cooler. Cooler being relative haha- it can still be pretty humid. although I won’t complain because I know our hot is not like your hot lol!
Good luck to your friends trying to get home.
I love Srange Planet.
