Hyped books I have never read.. yet

I never seem to catch up with the hyped books train and when I do, I seldom like them. I think it is bane of my existence and I can’t get out of it. And the list of books that I have missed out is too long to even add in a list. But here I am attempting to do that.

So here are my top ten hyped books that I have never read. Some of them I may or not read in the future and some I would never read and I have divided them accordingly.

So what are the hyped books that you have not read yet? Are they on my list? And why have you not read them yet? Let us talk. Click To Tweet

Hyped books I am never gonna read

10) Twilight Series

This is one I  may never even touch with a ten foot pole. I have read a few excerpts and that is good enough for me to make this decision.

9) Hunger Games

Well, the whole internet world had spoiled this for me, I know the story and I don’t want to spend an eternity reading books after books in the series.

8) Vampire Academy

Same goes for this one too.

7) Wonder

I saw the movie already. While I liked it, I have no intention to go through the same set of emotions with the book.

6) Fifty Shades of Grey

Oh I am definitely staying off this one!

5) My sister’s keeper

Again, the movie was pretty much good and I have no desire to read the book.

Hyped Books I may or not read

4) Ready Player One

I started reading this and most of the references flew over my head. I might give it a chance some day again.

3) Girl with the dragon Tattoo (Millennium) series

I have a thing against series, but this is one I have had my eyes on for a long time now. I might read it I think.

2) Me before you

I have been putting this tear jerker for a long time, mainly because I am so afraid it would let me down, after all the hypes I have heard for years now.

1)Harry Potter series

I know. I know. Everyone has read this but I have not. I don’t read many series and I definitely do not wanna read seven books. Still, I may or not read this some day in the future.

Me Before You, Ready Player One and also The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo are on my shelves and I have them waiting to be read. I LOVE Twilight, and I would say you should give it a go? Like really, once you start you get hooked in. Most of the people who don’t like it have never given it a shot xD You’re not missing much with the Hunger Games but Wonder is beautiful. I have to say that I have read the first 4 Harry Potter and don’t really get the hype. I was very underwhelmed…

The only book (series) I read in your list is the Fifty Shades Series. Read them all. Hahaha! Only read Breaking Dawn in the Twilight Series, I’m curious with Vampire Academy because people say it’s so good and I agree by the fact that it just doesn’t have the best covers.

Yes Vampire academy covers freak me out. What were they thinking?

I have never seen that rose cover that you posted before but the latest cover upgrade their did is worse than that rose. I’m talking about the uniform covers of V and A on them. I hope they make another cover upgrade, something lust worthy.

I haven’t read the Vamp Academy or Hunger Games either! I think you’ll be ok if you NEVER read FSoG LOL I loved Wonder so much but I hear you! I probably won’t read it again! I made me cry so much!

I am just not fit for tear jerkers at all. At least not for a while.

I have read a few off your list. Hyped books are a difficult subject. I feel like I almost don’t want to read them because my views of them are tainted before the books are even picked up. Great discussion!

I totally agree with the effect of hype- up.

I have never, nor do I plan to read HP, The Hunger Games, Twilight, or Fifty Shades. With the exception of Fifty Shades, I saw the film adaptions of the books, and don’t feel the need to read them.

I would have screamed at you to read Hunger Games but then if you know the whole story….I guess I get your point. Ooh definitely stay away from Twilight, 50 Shades of Grey and Vampire Diaries but also Me Before You. I guess it is a tear jerker but it is incredibly slow and might just bore you.

So I guess I have not lost anything by not reading these books.

I read the Dragon Tattoo series – a VERY good read, even with the English translation. The books are big but once you get into them, you can’t put them down. You also realize that the Swedish film series is more accurate than the US Hollywood version.

I have it on my TBR but I hope it is not too late to read them yet.

I haven’t read any of these either, except HP and the first Girl w a Dragon Tattoo, which I really liked, but not enough to go on with the series I guess!

I will have to read the Girl with the dragon tattoo soon.

I tried Ready Player one and gave up. I’ve read the HP series. I’ve not read the others.

I did the same about Ready Player One too.

Good call on Twilight- so not worth bothering with! And I tried the first vampire academy- it wasn’t for me. And man oh man it’s never a good idea to read fifty shades- I read the first one and… yeesh- let’s just say the only good thing to come out of it was that I now officially have a “worst book” answer that comes readily to mind. I’m glad to see Harry Potter in your maybe pile, but get why you don’t necessarily feel like it. Great post!

I am following your advise, and am not touching the Fifty shades and Vampire academy.

The only books from this list I have read are the Harry Potter ones… and I was 30 years old the first time lol. I generally avoid hyped books like the PLAGUE

I also haven’t read (and not planning to read) 50 shades, vampire academy and twilight. 😀 Same goes for Harry Potter & Jojo Moyes.

I did like Ready Player one and Girl with the dragon tattoo though 🙂

You have some of my favourite books on that list. Everyone has different tastes though, so despite the hype, no book will suit everyone. 🙂

I love Harry Potter so of course I’m going to tell you to read but I understand it’s not to everybody’s taste. I also loved the Hunger Games but again it’s not to everyone’s taste. I would recommend Ready Player One too I didn’t get any of the references but I enjoyed the story for what it was. I haven’t read any of the others, other than Twilight, and I won’t be either. Thanks for sharing your list.

I read Twilight because my sister was reading it. Honestly not worth it IMO. Hunger Games was good, but well, the movies aren’t bad either? I think the only other thing on your list I’ve read is Harry Potter and it’s decent but I have issues, in hindsight, with a lot of things. And the fandom is scary lol.

I agree that reading is subjective and it’s important to decide for yourself what you wanna read and what you don’t but Gayathri, HARRY POTTER! <3 You CANNOT NOT read it. Okay, umm, just gonna get my Potterhead feels a notch down. No worries if you don’t wanna read it…but…maybe….give it a chance someday 😀

Also, yup, stay away from Fifty Shades of Grey XD

Nice list. I’ve read most of these. The ones I haven’t read yet I probably won’t. Some of these series got me trying new genres and I’m glad for that even if I didn’t like that particular book. With so many books begging me to read them, I’ll always have some I can’t get to. LOL

I read half of Twilight before giving up because of spoilers. I also haven’t read Harry Potter yet. Well, I’ve read the first three books but the bigger ones are what remain and I just don’t have that kind of time right now.
