Post COVID Trip to India: Sunday Musings #113

Y’all, I have some exciting news from my side. I am going from Dubai to India tomorrow after exactly a year.

I have not met my family in a year, obviously thanks to the COVID and it has been a tough year. This is the longest I have gone without traveling anywhere, like rest of the world.

I have taken my PCR test yesterday and I will have to submit the result when I check in. I hear that there will be another test as soon as I land in India. And there might be a fourteen day home quarantine, if the results come out as negative.

How has your week been? When was the last time you traveled out from your city? How strict are your COVID related rules? Let us talk. Share on X

I am hoping that things will work out smoothly. I will keep you updated with the formalities as well.

I am excited guys, and I promise I will be posting on my usual schedule.

What I read this week

I am currently reading two books and I plan to finish both of them in a day or two.

  • Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi
  • Beach Read by Emily Henry

Have you read either of these books? How did you like them?

What I watched this week

This may come a bit odd but this week was the first time ever I saw the classic, The Godfather. And I loved it. I had read the whole series by Mario Puzo more than a decade ago, and I remember loving it.

A while ago I stumbled upon Moxie by Jennifer Mathieu and I enjoyed reading it. And imagine my surprise when I saw it on Netflix of all places! I had to watch it, and guess what? I enjoyed it, even though it was not an exact adaptation of the book, (and that is for good IMHO).

I also watched the Crew and Instant Family on Netflix and I didnt like them much.

  1. I hope you have a nice visit to India! It’s been over a year since I’ve seen any of my family (outside of my husband and daughter) too. I am so glad my mom will be visiting next week. Not sure when we’ll see anyone else. I hope you have a safe and wonderful time!

  2. Sounds exciting, Gayathri! It must have been tough being away from your family for so long, and I hope you enjoy the trip. I’ve more or less stopped travelling and have spent the year in Serbia. I took a quick trip back to the UK last year to see my family and take care of some things, but it was so complicated to drive across different countries with ever-changing rules that I’ve decided to stay where I am until things get better. Am hoping to be able to travel again in the summer. Hope your trip goes smoothly!

  3. I do want to read Before the coffee gets cold ! Congratulations on your trip, I haven’t seen my own sister for a year, so I’m happy you will be able to reunite with your family 🙂

  4. We still take it seriously here, leaving the country is still not permitted unless it’s ‘essential’ so basically for work only. There is a cap on o/s arrivals, and all incoming peoples need to quarantine for 14 days at a cost of around $3000 at an approved monitored hotel and test negative twice , before being permitted to go home.

    Enjoy your time with family.
Wishing you a great reading week

  5. Yay for getting out in the world again! Hope you have an amazing time and I can’t wait to see your pictures! Loved Beach Read! Hope you do, too! 🙂

  6. Yea for your trip to India! I can just imagine how excited you are to see your family again. Safe travels and take lots of photos for us!

Beach Read is on my Kindle and I hope to get to it real soon.

    Have a good week!

  7. Congratulations on finally getting away! I haven’t left this residential community for a year…except for one bloodwork appointment with the doctor in November. Now that felt like an adventure.

They are really strict here, probably because it is a senior residence, but I do miss how I was able to come and go, call Lyft, and have a great deal of independence. I miss that!

Enjoy your trip and stay safe. Thanks for visiting my blog.

  8. Oh, to get away for a while…
On the other hand it must have been so hard being unable to visit family for so long. Hope the quarantine procedures aren’t too onerous. I would love to go to India again, but maybe not for a while.

  9. Gayathri!!!! I hope your trip goes well!! I’m so happy you get to visit your friends and family! How long are you staying for? I also miss travel and I hope to get my vaccine soon so I can properly travel as well. Stay safe and keep us posted on your trip <3

  10. Gayathri, I am so pleased you will soon be able to travel back to India to see family and friends! I do get to travel out of my town to the neighbouring city for my job, but otherwise I haven’t travelled anywhere else since last summer and haven’t left the country in a year and a half! Thankfully I will be getting my first vaccination this week, so it feels like their is light at the end of the tunnel and I hope I will be able to travel to France to see my mum this summer. 🙏 Take care and happy reading in the coming week. 🙂

  11. Oh I’m glad you’re able to get to India! Have a safe and happy trip- I hope all goes well!

I love your image this week too- the misty beach. 🙂

    Take care and safe travels!!!
