Issues with blog statistics: Sunday Musings #115

My blog stats has been acting weird in the past few weeks. There are few days when I have an abnormal number of page visits and then a total silence in the next few.

I have been trying to understand the head or tail of it or why it happens but failed miserably. Has it been happening for everyone? Or is it just me?

On other news, things are moving pretty slowly on my end. But I am planning to go to my hometown, Chennai, sometime this week. So that is all I have been looking forward to.

How important are page visits and other statistics for you and your blog? Do you obsess over them? And how do you track them? Let us talk. Share on X

What I read this week

I loved reading Lies We Bury by Elle Marr this week. And the book gave me a serious hangover.

It has everything needed for a psychological thriller – a band of sisters who are still trying to escape from the trauma of their childhood in captivity, their kidnapper just being released on a parole and a serial killer who is commemorating the 20th year of escape.

I will have to write a review once I clear up my mind. If anyone’s interested it is on Netgalley currently.

What I watched this week

I have been rewatching Dr House and Young Sheldon on Amazon these days. I am not watching for long though.

How about you?

  1. Have fun in Chennai during your visit!

Weirdly enough my blog stats have been weird all year but nothing similar to what it sounds like for you. I figured mine was more of a, “it’s a pandemic people are focusing on them more than blogs” and “I haven’t really been promoting as much nor interacting as much.”

  2. I wonder if the random jumps in views could be spam? Do you have a blocker on your site?

To be honest, I don’t really look at mine. Occasionally I do but I know it’s not accurate. For example, I used to not follow blogs on any measurable platform. I had a bookmark folder on my browser that I would save blogs to. I now use feedly, which does have the number of followers on there, but I don’t really pay attention lol

  3. Lies We Bury sounds really good. I’ll have to add that to my list.

Honestly, I don’t even look at my stats. I probably should but I haven’t been paying attention.

    Have a great week!

  4. I don’t let myself stress over my blog stats, other than seeing what posts have been popular, just sharing and talking all things bookish is why I blog. This week I have continued watching the criminal drama Your Honor and reading A Room With a View by E.M. Forster. Take care and happy reading the coming week, Gayathri. 🙂

  5. I don’t pay that much attention to the followers buttons, because I’ve realized that a lot of people will follow you and never read your posts. I do look at blog stats and post visits yes, good to see what people enjoy reading and what not!

We’ve loved Young Sheldon and I hope there will be more seasons.

Have a good week and travel safely!

  6. Lies We Bury sounds like just my kind of book, and I love Young Sheldon – it’s so funny. Hope you have a good visit to your hometown!

  7. Lies We Bury sounds intense! I rarely pay attention to blog stats and page views. I’m more mindful of my Instagram likes and engagement for some reason. I’m definitely going to check out your post on Bookstagram hashtags. Thanks for sharing!

  8. I hope you have a great visit! And I love a good psychological thriller. I think in some ways they’ve become one of my favorite sub- genres, I’ve been reading so many of them lately.

I hope you have a great week!
