Tag: Why I am weird

Time for another tag but this time it is a non bookish one. I had Renee add me on this Why I am weird tag and I realized it was finally an opportunity to talk about myself again. So are you ready for this?

Ever considered yourself weird? I got the opportunity to tell you all why I am weird through this tag. Thanks for the tag @ReneeHuggins Click To Tweet

Why I am weird tag – Rules:

  • List ten weird things about yourself, your life or silly habits that you wouldn’t normally share.
  • Tag up to ten people so you can get to know them better.
  • Link back to the person who tagged you & the creator
  • Comment on the posts of people you tagged!

Lets do this

  1. I am terrified of cats and sometimes, even have nightmares about them.
  2. I think I might be scared of rabbits, too. But I have not seen one in real life, so I am not sure.
  3. I totally depend on a to do list to function. If it is not in one of the many lists, I may not be doing it, ever.
  4. Unsurprisingly, I love spreadsheets. If there is a way to do something with spreadsheet, I am already on it. Everything from my TBR list to plans for guest posts is on some spreadsheet.
  5. People easily peg all bookworms to be introverts and it is a stereotype. I. for one, am an extrovert. I need human interactions at least online on a daily basis to keep my spirits alive.
  6. There has been a while in my life that I had completely stopped reading books. Blame it on the pressure of dual degrees I was pursuing or the circle I was in then. I cannot believe how I even survived those two years without reading for fun.
  7. My sun sign is Aries and I think I live true to its name. I am easily distracted, commitment phobic and love being the center of attention.
  8. Lately, I have gotten in bad habit of using way too many exclamatory marks (!). I don’t even know if I use them correctly anymore.
  9. I love playing the devil’s advocate, which is a very convenient excuse for my overthinking brain.
  10. If it is not yet apparent, I love making lists and talking about myself. So yeah I enjoyed making this list and can make a longer one even.

So I tag:

Everyone who wants to do this tag and their best friend.

Tag: Seven things I like in a book

Let us be honest. Not all books are equal nor do they all make us weep or laugh with them. They all tell us a story but yet not all of them become our favorites. Have you given a thought about what are the things that make us like a book?

I found this #7ThingsILikeInABook tag on the bookstagram and I thought I will give it a try in here. So let us do this and try to name seven things I like in a book.

7) Unexpected plot twists

I mean do I even talk about this? Give me a strong plot with enough twists that would keep me hooked for hours together. Sadly for me I can usually I smell the twists from miles away and it is becoming more and more difficult to be surprised.

elgeewrites Tag: Seven things I like in a book 7Things didnt see that

If you know any books with unexpected twists, let me know in the comments section.

6) Witty banter and some humor

I am a snarky person myself and while I love that lengthy philosophical monologue, I can’t get enough of books that make me laugh out loudly. And some humorous banter among the character makes it all the more realistic and appealing right?

5) Sassy females

Anyone else like badass heroines? I recently read Truth or beard by Penny Reid and I realized what I have been missing for a while now. Maybe I don’t want women who renounce men or maybe I do. Maybe I want the clinically insane or I would read about the ones that cure them.

elgeewrites Tag: Seven things I like in a book 7Things unreliable

Whatever they are just make your woman interesting, strong (in their own way) and more importantly witty and sassy.

4) Strong friendship bonding

I love reading a story with a real friendship, even if it is on the villain side of the story. Be it a fun, quirky and light hearted like in The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson or the heart warming friendships that would last a life time

elgeewrites Tag: Seven things I like in a book 7Things sidekick

Don’t you love it when these friends not only play a formidable sidekick but also put in some sense to the leads?

3) Multiple time lines

I guess I love my books complicated. I get all perked the minute I realize that there are various timelines in a book. A multigenerational family saga or a murder mystery, either way having more than a timeline to follow makes it merrier for me.

elgeewrites Tag: Seven things I like in a book 7Things female

So go ahead, confuse me all you can with multiple time lines and point of views!

2) Unreliable narrators

I know I have talked about this so many times now, but I love unreliable narrators. I mean who wouldn’t like the risk of trusting the narrator too much, only to find out they have been misled all along? Okay, just me!

1) Flawed characters

Nobody is perfect and I would not want my fictitious characters to be too perfect, will I? I love the flawed and morally grey ones more so than anyone sane should.

elgeewrites Tag: Seven things I like in a book 7Things flawed characters

Show me characters that suffer making their choices, that are devil’s advocates or maybe the ones that will do anything to save their asses off and I will be hooked to your book till the end.

Tag: Types of Memes – bookish version

Don’t we all love some memes? I know I know. They are things that everyone hate or love and there is no in between and you can’t escape them, right? Okay so I was looking around for a tag that I have not done and saw this fun tag so I thought why not. right?

Types of Memes – a book tag

The goal is trying to come up with books that match the most common memes. So let us get it done shall we?

  • Tag 7+ people, don’t kill the tag!

Let us get started

“Grumpy Cat” A book you have negative feelings about

I rarely read books that I completely hate or dislike. So this one is a toughie but I am still gonna do it.

memes

But I have a thing against John Green and his books. While a lot of my blogger friends have loved it, I utterly disliked Turtles All the Way Down.

“What If I Told You” A book you spoiled for yourself

I don’t even read the blurb before I start a book. No, I don’t mind the spoilers but I like jumping into the story without any expectations. But still, there have been ones that I got ahead of myself and I spoiled it myself.

memes

So I read Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon with a lot of expectations. But it didn’t live up to my expectations, and it didn’t help matters that I read some of the reviews before I finished the book.

“I Don’t Always” A book you don’t always like, but when you’re reading it you do

Okay so there are some books that I don’t like at all and hate that I even spent time on them, but when I did read them I just couldn’t stop. So I am gonna name my so-called ‘guilty pleasures’ Susan Elizabeth Phillips.

memes

I even wrote a rant review about this Nobody’s baby but mine by Susan Elizabeth Phillips one a while ago. Man did that make me stop reading the series? Absolutely, not!

“60’s Spiderman” A good classic or retro book that’ll never get old

The only book I have read more than thrice and still loved is Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell. Okay, Pride and Prejudice comes second, but not close at all.

memes

“Just Little Things” A book that’s very relatable

I am have to say Lord Henry from The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. Okay I know that sounds diabolic. But listen me out okay? I loved his thoughts, ideas and philosophy and I have not read anyone more relatable than him in the recent past.

memes

“Demotivational” A book that you’ve seen almost everywhere

Oh, there are quite a few of them. But I think My Sister, the Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite should be it. But not in a negative way. It is on my TBR, that says it all right? (update: I finally did.)

memes

“You Don’t Say” A predictable book

I just wrote a review on this Before I Let Go by Marieke Nijkamp quite recently. It was damn predictable and I couldn’t wait for the end.

memes

“One Does Not Simply” A book you binge read

The last book I binge read was A Thousand perfect notes by C G Drew. It is our Cait from Paperfury y’all.

memes

“Chemistry Cat” A book that taught you something new I read

The Zookeeper’s wife by Diane Ackerman for my A-Z Reading challenge 2018 and I ended up learning so much about animals and World War II. I am a WW II junkie, if you didn’t know already.

memes

“Pet Memes” A book that’s just really adorable

I loved A Quiet Kind of Thunder by Sara Barnard and it was quite adorable to say the least.
