December 2020 wrap up: Sunday Musings #104

Now that we are letting out a collective sigh of relief that 2020 is over, it is time to look back at what happened in our lives during December 2020.

How did your December 2020 go? What did you do for the New Year's eve? What are your plans for the weekend? Let's talk. Share on X

Also I hope you guys had a wonderful New Year’s Eve and happy New year to you all!

Quick December’20 updates

  • We began the month with a fabulous five day week end for the UAE national day. The weekend had a lot events happening and a spectacular fireworks show at Le Mer.
  • December 2020 also saw the beginning of the voluntary mass vaccination program all over the country. I love how proactive and involved the government is in the control of Covid, unlike many other countries from what I hear.
  • I also met my book club in person after almost a year. It was the first and only time I got to meet them in 2020. Though we had quite a number of Zoom meetings, it was not the same.
  • Finally about the New Year’s Eve. We stayed overnight at the Crowne Plaza (using some reward points, the prices were sky-high) mainly to watch the spectacular fireworks and not drive home after the party. The fireworks left me breathless and it was fun to celebrate the NYE with strangers. Of course social distancing protocols were followed, though not to the T.

  1. Happy New Year, Gayathri and celebrations sound great! 🎆 It was a very quite New Year’s Eve for me as fireworks were cancelled and parties stopped by our current restrictions in the UK. So I spent it quietly and happily with my cat and Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey 😊 Here’s to a happier, healthier and easier 2021! 🤞

  2. Happy New Year! Your New Year’s Eve sounds lovely. How nice that you were able to meet your book club friends.

    I loved The Flight Attendant.

Hope you have a great week!

  3. I also watched The Flight Attendant, and really enjoyed it. I had previously read and loved the book.

I must read Anxious People at some point; I had started it, and then set it aside. I need to give it another chance.

I wish our country had done better with Covid…but I have hope that things are about to get better with our new administration.

Enjoy your week and the New Year, and thanks for visiting my blog.

  4. If I am in the mood for fireworks, I love watching them especially if its not too late and they put on a good show. Hope you had a wonderful New Years and blessings be upon you in 2021

  5. Happy New Year Gayathri, it appears that you rung in the New Year in style! I love the pictures of the fireworks, truly stunning!
I hope this new year will bring us all some peace, and the possibility to get back to something that will be closer to our old normal.
Have a wonderful week ahead, happy reading.

  6. Happy new year Gayathri ! And thank you for sharing those beautiful pictures. I’m happy you finally got to meet your book club IRL. Maybe by the end of this year, we’ll finally be able to hug people ? Let’s hope so 😉

  7. Happy New Year, Gayathri! It sounds like you had a nice December. I am so glad your government is together enough to take such an active and organized role in getting out the vaccines. I am also glad you got to meet with your book club in person!

I hope you enjoyed your December reading. You got a lot of books in!

It sounds like you had a very nice New Year’s celebration. Mine was quiet, but that isn’t unusual, pandemic or not.

Wishing you well this new year!
