Using the gym during the times of Corona: Sunday Musings #88

Last week I finally felt brazen enough to start going to the gym. And to be honest I am spend more time sanitizing the equipment than exercising.

How has the new normal been changing you? What are the small things that have changed for you due to the pandemic? Let's talk. Click To Tweet

According to the Government rules, it is not necessary to wear the mask while we are exercising alone. That means we were the mask until we reach the gym, where they check our temperature and we sanitize ourselves before we enter.

And then we sanitize the equipment before and after using each of them. So yeah it takes longer than the usual time. But hey, we all gotta do what we gotta right?

How has the new world treating you?

What I read this week

I had to stop reading The Little Teashop in Tokyo by Julie Caplin in the mid way last week because I was not loving it. Maybe I will give it another try later this week.

But instead I picked up The Henna Artist by Alka Joshi and ended up liking it. It is an Own voice that I can get behind. If you wanna read a historical fiction set in India, this one should be your pick.

What I watched this week

I am watching Modern family on Netflix and SuperStore on Prime. I am alternating between them but I am ensuring that I am not binging on neither. I am definitely taking it slow

Gyms here re-opened but I don’t feel comfortable with the idea while COVID numbers are rising. My gym back home has been streaming free classes on FB since the lockdown started so I try to do a few of those a week and go for walks or hikes on the other days. It’s nice that your gym is open and taking proper precautions! Enjoy your week.

Oh walking and hikes are great if the weather would permit, which is not the case in Dubai right now.

We are still Shelter in Place in San Francisco which is okay with me. I enjoyed The Henna Artist too.

YES that is the most sensible thing to do for now.

Gayathri, it does sound a bit of rigmarole to go to the gym, but it is good they’re open for people to get some exercise. I am not a gym person – I go for a jog down the side of my local river or do some yoga at home.

I’m sorry to hear you had to put aside The Little Teashop in Tokyo, but good you found something else to read that you enjoyed. Take care and happy reading in the coming week. 😃

Oh Jogging aside your local river sounds so fun. Sadly, exercising outdoors is not possible with the weather here! So envious.

I’ve been trying to come up with an exercise routine for home. None of our gyms are open yet, I don’t think.

I love SuperStore. I watch that during the regular season as it airs. It’s a good show.

I hope you have a great week!

I actually have no clue if gyms are open again here yet, I’ve never been. Team sports have restarted with some modification though so my son is happy to playing basketball again.

Wishing you a great reading week

I haven’t gone to the gym in years, so now would not be the time. If we were allowed to leave this facility, I can think of other places to go. Glad you are enjoying it, though.

Have a great week, and enjoy your books. Thanks for visiting my blog.

I have started going back to the gym and it feels so nice. The good thing about most gyms is they are taking all the right precautions and the machines are spaced really well. Not sure how I could ever work out while wearing a mask, I would probably pass out lol I need the oxygen

I’ve not been to the gym since before lockdown! That’s five months now!! I should probably stop paying for my membership as I’m not sure when I will be going back into the city and think I will be working from home for the foreseeable future! I am missing my yoga though… and my pole fitness… and my aerial hoop! Oh gosh.

I’ve been sticking to at-home workouts (cardio videos on YouTube) or outdoor walks. But I bet it feels good to get back to the gym… a sense of normal, even with the extra steps. Gorgeous insta pics! Everything is so pretty and green. 🙂

That sounds like a lot of work for a workout. I’ve always been more of a home work-out kind of girl. Not that I’ve been doing that lately. LOL!

Have a great week and happy reading.

Gyms already opened here and as far as I know, the rules are the same. This new world is scary and I do my best to just stay at home.

    Happy readings!

Hi there! Local gyms are still closed in SA, but will open over the next couple of days. I’ve been going to my ballet barre classes for 2 weeks already and it’s great to be back!

The Sittaford Mystery! It was one of my first Agatha Christie books. I’ll have a look at your review.

Thanks for sharing all the interesting blog posts, I tend to miss it! Hope you will have a good week.

I imagine it’s nice to get back to the gym. Although all the sanitizing probably gets old quick! Hope Little Teashop gets better if you go back to it.

    Love the waterfall! 🙂

Our local gyms are still closed, I suppose you can’t be to careful but it’s annoying it eats in to workout time.

I love Modern Family, I’ve watched them all several times over, it always gives me a laugh.

    Have a good week.

What’s the set up like? In the gym? I miss going to an actual yoga class. Gyms and fitness studios are still closed where I live. Stay safe.
