Scarier CoVID19 Pandemic!: Sunday Musings #68

Scarier CoVID19 Pandemic!: Sunday Musings #68

Every day into this month is scarier than the previous. The number of people infected by CoVID19 virus in most countries is still rising and it is going to get worse, according to the forecasts.

And the worst part is we are forgetting when we discuss the statistics that we are talking about people. They are more than numbers. And once we think that, it is more disturbing and scary.

I just can’t wait for the CoVID19 pandemic to get done with!

On the brighter side, the governments are doing the best they can, both the Indian and the UAE, from what I see and hear. It is gonna be better, right?

What has your week like? Are you reading any good books? How are you distracting yourself during the pandemic and quarantine? Let us talk. #SundayPost #CoVID19 Click To Tweet

What I read this week

I am still reading the Girl, Woman by Bernardine Evaristo.

But in the meantime, I finished reading 10 Minutes 38 Seconds in this Strange World by Elif Shafak. This is the second book I read of hers, being the Forty rules of love by Elif Shafak.

And I wasn’t a big fan of it. But I gave in to reading this as I wanted to give her a second chance.

And my verdict? I liked it and you will have to wait for my review for more.

What I watched this week

Would you believe that I had never watched Shutter Island earlier? Well, the staying in due to the CoVID19 has given me the perfect chance to rectify that and I loved it.

Other things I watched during the week are

  • On my block S2 – Loved it
  • Guilt – S1 – I can see why there was no Season 2
  • Sherlock S4 – LOVED rewatching it
  • Jane the virgin – S5 – just started watching it.

What are you all watching these days?

Social Distancing and the new lifestyle!: Sunday Musings #67

That is one week into the social distancing thing and I am happy to announce that I have not stepped out of the house for anything. I know it sounds bragging, and yes I am. It has been Netflix and books and home cooked meals for the week now and I am loving it.

So how is the social distancing working for you? Have you been using it to read everything on your to read shelf? Lets talk! #SundayPost Click To Tweet

I am loving this video that has been going around explaining how the social distancing works and why it is important right now.

Dubai has been taking the pandemic seriously and currently they have started a ten day intensive mass sterilization drive. As on date we have had 140 cases with about 30 recoveries and 2 deaths in the past 3 months and I really hope things would be under control soon.

Back in India, the spread has just started and the Central and State governments are doing a good job, apparently. But the worse is yet to come sadly. Again, it is on the residents to follow the safety protocols and social distancing norms.

What I read this week

I am currently reading Girl, Woman by Bernardine Evaristo with two of my friends.

But my week has been good in terms of reading because I read TWO hyped books. Not my best but hey I am recovering from a long term slump!

One I loved and the other was not good. Can you guess which one is which?

What I watched this week

I had a lot of screen time last week and I am not ashamed at all. And for the first time ever, I had a legitimate reason for that – yes the social distancing and self isolation, blah blah!

  • I finally caught up with the Brooklyn 99 S6
  • Rewatching Sherlock
  • A few episodes of Mentalist on Prime!
  • Currently watching On my block S3

Not bad at all eh?

Corona/CoVID And other updates: Sunday Musings #66

How is your country/ state treating Corona CoVID panic? In Dubai, UAE the public places are being regularly disinfected. The schools have been shut down for 4 weeks and many office goers been offered the choice to work from home. It has been weird seeing the car park full of cars during the day time.

But for me, it has been quite the normal week, as I work from home as a freelancer. I just stopped going to the gym and better sanitation and hygiene for me. And that’s about it.

What I read this week

Last week, I finally finished reading Poet X, The by Elizabeth Acevedo and I am currently reading From Twinkle, with love from Sandhya Menon. Not a bad week I suppose.

What I watched this week

As I was saying earlier, I have been binge-ing on The Office for a few days now. And I been rewatching the BBC’s Sherlock Homes, for no good reason at all. And I am loving them both, unsurprisingly.

February 2020 – life updates: Sunday Musings #65

It has been a busy week here. And the weather is still pleasant and I am desperately trying to make the best of it. I am trying to catch up with the blogging and reading schedule. Well, it seems like I am saying that every so and often here. Sigh.

And Happy Women’s Day everyone!

It has been a while. What is up with you, guys? What are you reading? And how has your February been? Let us talk. #SundayPost #February2020 #Monthlywrapup #HappyWomensDay Click To Tweet

What I read this month:

I am very disappointed to announce that I read a grand total of one book in February!

I read the Hart & Seoul by Kristen Burnham. Loved it and maybe you will see the review around here soon.

What I watched this month:

Don’t judge me when I say “I have never watched The Office” before. So I am rectifying the situation and binging it on Prime these days.

I am definitely loving it. And I may have now been obsessing over and my phone album is filled with Michael Scott memes.

Around the blogosphere

So I have not been on the blog hopping for a few weeks now. But here are few links that I loved recently.

  • I loved Shruti’s post on the problematic content in Enid Blyton books
  • Here is Jenn’s post on Social media schedulers for bloggers.

January 2020 – life updates: Sunday Musings #64

Let me be a little cliche and say “I have no idea how we are already one month into 2020. Where did January 2020 go?” Well, here is an update on how that happened.

Let me be a little cliche and say "I have no idea how we are already one month into 2020. Where did January 2020 go?" Well, here is an update on how that happened. How has your month been?#SundayPost #January2020 Click To Tweet

Quick January 2020 updates

  • We had guests over for more than a week, and that should explain my absence during the past week. Well, having guests gave us an opportunity to see the tourist-y places in Dubai once again.
  • Also, winter being the peak tourist season in general, Dubai usually has lots of sale and discounts during those months, and a lot of fireworks and celebrations as well. Being the fireworks enthusiast that I am, I watched them so many times from different places in Dubai. AND I loved them.
  • Last but not the least, I got featured in a leading National daily here and I naturally spoke about books and authors. In case you missed that piece of news, here is it. Let me know what you think!

What I read this month:

January 2020 was an average reading month for me. I read four books despite the number of distractions I had during the month.

  • One Day in December by Josie Silver
  • Tattooist of Auschwitz, The by Heather Morris
  • Travelling Cat Chronicles, The by Hiro Arikawa, Philip Gabriel (Translator)
  • How to Build a Heart by Maria Padian

What I watched this month:

Thanks to the other distractions I spent way less time watching TV and movies than I would have otherwise.

I watched the Toy Story 4 last month and that is it. I loved it!But watch out for this space, because I will be back soon.
