This week was a fast blur for me. We just moved apartments and the whole house looks like a mess currently. And I am expecting guests on Tuesday, so I need to get settled in two days. So God help me!
On other news, I finished my first 5K on Friday for the Dubai Run, part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge 2019. And I had so much fun because I did with my friends and I can pretend it didn’t hurt.
What I read this week
It may come as no surprise that I didn’t get much reading done. But I am buddy reading Bridge of Clay by MarkusZusak with Huda, and I all am hoping for is to not let her down.
And I am sure I will catch upon more reading in the following week.
What I watched this week
I know I am late to catching up on the Mindhunter season 2 and I loved it so much. It was worth the wait.
I loved the earlier seasons of Netflix’s Atypical and as soon as I saw the trailer up I binged on it.
What else should I be binging on? Let me know.
On my blog
In case you had missed this week’s post on my blog, here is a quick recap for you.
What better way to meet you all after a long gap than a monthly update post? So here I am with the October update.
While I feel like have to search for words to type and things to say, I am sure it is just that I feeling a bit rusty and it would get better soon. Here we go.
I flew to Macau, China for getting my recovering cousin back home to India. Thanks to the flight schedule and the time zone changes, I went about 33 hours without sleep, my longest ever.
I also traveled down to Langkawai and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for a well deserved holiday after the hectic and emotional months.
Got out of the stupid reading slump and I am currently on a reading spree. (More on that below.)
And last week I joined a fitness gym and am hoping that I would hit it often enough to get my money’s worth.
I am holding the best for the last. The summer in Dubai is long gone and we are hanging on to that shortest period between summer and winter which means the weather is pleasant and the sky is blue. And am loving it.
The weather is finally getting better and the summer is finally receding. With the heat and humidity are slowly falling back, I am getting back to my routine, of sorts.
So today marks the first day of Navaratri or Dussehera, a 9 day Hindu festival. We usually arrange dolls made of clay and wood, which have been usually passed on in the family for generations. Well, another thing that I will be missing out on, staying away in a different country.
What I read this week
I read two books last week and I FINALLY GOT OVER MY READING SLUMP. So that is a good news I guess.
Vices/Virtues by Beatrice De Soprontu
The Bookish life of Nina Hill by Abbi Waxman
I am currently reading What you did by Claire McGowan. I have heard mixed reviews about this one, so I am holding my judgement until I finish it.
What I watched this week
I am slowly catching up with all the series that I had missed during my holidays.
Stranger things Season 3 – What? How did it end so soon? Okay I didn’t love it, but it wasn’t bad either. It was better than season 2, I guess.
Cable Girls Season 4 – I liked that a main character returned but it wasn’t as good as the last season.
I watched Crawl during the weekend and enjoyed watching it, surprisingly.
And did anyone actually like “In the shadow of the moon” on Netflix? I loved the premise but the film as a whole was a big meh for me.
On my blog
In case you had missed any of my posts from last week, here is a quick recap
I had to travel to Macau, China as one of my close family member was hospitalized there while on a trip. And then I returned to a mold infested house back in Dubai, no thanks to the scorching summer and a broken AC.
Well, now I am back to blogging from a cleaner house and a reading slump that I am struggling to get out of. I will definitely share some beautiful pictures from my travel soon.
So that is my sad little story, so what about you? What did I miss in these two months?
What I read this week
I am not at all proud to say I have not read a book since the end of July. At least I had solid reasons for that, during August.
It has been almost two weeks since I returned and I can’t seem to find some time to read. And even if I did, I can’t get myself to focus. Can I blame it on the mold infestation?
But now that I am done with all those pesky household chores, I am determined to get it over with and I am hoping The Bookish Life of Nina Hill will be the book that will pull me out of the abyss.
What I watched this week
On the bright side, I have been catching up with a lot of TV shows that I had missed due to my travels.
I loved and adored the Money Heist new season S4. And my dislike for Tokyo has heightened. Fight me, Tokyo-fans!
All those who recommended me the K-drama Love Alarm, thank you! I loved everything about it, except for the fact that I have to wait for the next season.
I also finally caught up with The Ranch. I didn’t love it but it was okay.
On cinemas I watched IT: Chapter two and the Ad Astra.
I liked IT better than Ad Astra, being the horror and Stephen King fan I am. Even though this second part had a lot of things going as expected, I missed the nostalgic 80s warmth and humor.
And I found Ad Astra to be too damn slow for my liking, despite loving the premise and visual grandeur of the film.
On my blog
Obviously I have nothing new to show under this topic, so I am gonna go ahead and link to some of my popular posts of all times, in case you have missed it earlier.
So what I have been missing around the blogosphere? What are you reading currently? Any words to help me get off this slump and regain my mojo? Let us talk.
I am on vacation in India still, and I kinda extended it by ten days. So I thought I will give you an update on how things are working out currently. I have been shuttling between cities, just as I expected and it is not as bad as I have been whining about.
But hey the good news is I am avoiding returning to Dubai’s heat for another ten days and spending time meeting family, friends and even catching up with some bloggers in real life. The only downfall seems to be my inconsistent blogging schedule and I have been feeling terribly guilty about it. Do you have those bloggers’ remorse?
What I read this week
On the other hand my reading has been going great and I have been on track mostly. I read two books in the last week.
The joy luck club
Aristotle and Dante discover the secrets of the universe
On my blog
As I mentioned already, I haven’t blogged in a while. It is not that I don’t have time to write up one but it is just not the same when you are on a holiday.
I am lost without a routine and probably that’s what holidays are about! Anyway here is the single post I published in the past three weeks.
Since I haven’t had blog hopped and don’t even know what’s happening in the blogosphere, I am gonna talk about whom I met in last few weeks!
I met Shruti from This ls Lit and Mathangi from The Word Glutton in Chennai two weeks ago! And you will not believe this is the first time we are hanging out outside of a book event.
We ended up spending more than five hours talking about nothing and everything. Who am I kidding? We were talking about books, feminism and representation of brown people in books!
And we clicked a lot of fun pictures.
Tanvi from A reader to whatever end visited the town when I was around and Nandini from Unputdownable books and I caught up with her.
Again a coffee date extended to a five hour giggle fest! Wait who said we bookworms are the quiet ones?
I am totally looking forward to meeting some more Bookstagrammers and bloggers this week! Fingers crossed!!

What’s up with you? Who are the bloggers that you have met in real life? Do you think it is my bloggers’ remorse is normal and do you have ever faced it? Let’s talk.
This week has been hectic for me, even though I am unable to recall what exactly I did. I am sure it consisted of planning for my visit to India this week and tying up things here before we left. But I am sure I have not got them all.
And you heard it right. After almost six months I am for my visit to India and I am swamped just thinking about the logistics. There are many places to visit, people to meet and friends to catch up. And of course meeting and spending time with my family is the main goal.
Also, you can consider this as a heads up that I may not be able to post as regularly as I am now, but I am planning to try my best. As I mentioned in my last Sunday post about my blogger burnout and the drop in blog engagement, I am sure this trip to India will help me get over it, especially if I take a break during this time.
Quick June’19 updates
During the Eid long weekend, I took a little trip to Musandam, Oman to enjoy a relaxing pool side getaway.
We had another interesting book club and even got into a very passionate argument over non bookish stuff. I love the gang.
I got to hang out with my friends and work on a secret project that we surprisingly not abandoned.. Yet.
And oh the summer is here and as much as I try not to complain about it, the weather is killing us. Like we say, it is not the heat, it is the humidity! And I am so happy that I can visit India for a while during this season.
What I read this month:
On the whole the month was really good in terms of reading and I caught up six books which is fewer than May but a lot more than my general reading. So here we go with the list.
I watched Spider-man on the Cinemas last week and I should say the current cast are the best Spiderman team ever. I stan by this, it is even better than Toby Maguire team.
I am also slowly rewatching How to get away with murder. I am not binging it and I am enjoying it.
But on the whole I think I didn’t spend too much time on watching television or movies this June, which is somehow good, I guess.
Alta Mar or High Seas
Cube
Murder Mystery
Jessica Jones Season 3
Two Worlds – Korean Drama
Brooklyn nine nine – re-watched S5
