The very first Sunday Musings post of the year 2019 and I come bearing updates from Dubai’s New Year Eve extravaganza.
You might have guessed it involved too many fireworks at different places and obviously the one at Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, was one of the bests in the world.
This NYE show is going to be run for a few more weeks. Yes, every night for the next few weeks, sans the fireworks. Here is a video of that so that you can understand how over the top we are, as usual, which I love!
We could not go to watch that in person but went to the nearby beach, that I talked about in an earlier post, to catch up on the other fireworks. And here are a few pictures I clicked.
If you like these, you should consider following me on my Instagram, where I keep posting updates from my Dubai life.

On other news, my blog had a fabulous start and posted thrice already in the new year.
Also we will be premiering our guest post series from Indie authors! I can’t wait for it go online. I am so excited!
Around the blogosphere
I had a fairly good year when it came to blog hopping and I am planning to continue it. Here are some of my favorite finds during the week.
Claire’s list of 50 books of 2018 that she considers the best is an inspiration.
I am a new follower on Lili’s blog and I loved her post on how books save the introverts.
Laura discussed on the future of reading. Digital or physical books? What is your vote?
I am playing catch up with the comments on my blog and I will finish it off in two days. I will be returning every comment by visiting yours as I take part in the Comment 4 Comment challenge #C4CC2019
Christmas is one of my favorite festival, even though I don’t celebrate it. Especially since moving to Dubai I am doubly excited just looking at the huge ass displays they have at the malls and other central places.
And we are going on a three holiday starting tomorrow (read again: we don’t celebrate Christmas) to Fujairah. There are technically very few places to visit (or that is what Google says) so we will be enjoying our stay at the resort. I will be sharing the photos in my next Sunday post.
On the other news, I am all geared up for the New year and I am well equipped with plans for the blog. Yes that is plural and you know I tend to go overboard with the scheduling bit. Of course, the real problem comes with the execution, but that is a topic for another day. So yes, I have planned it all for January and I will keep planning.

On my blog
In case you missed my posts this week, here is a quick recap.
I do not know how the week flew and yet I am here on another lazy Sunday to talk about the week that flew by. We are going to watch a movie in the cinemas in a bit, so this may have to be a quick one.
Today we are celebrating our (United Arab Emirates – UAE) 47th National day and things are quite fun and happening. We have been having fireworks and flags being displayed in almost every neighborhood. So I thought I will share with you a few of those sparks that I clicked last night.
We also have several dance and folk song performances in many of the malls. I will try and post the video of it if I happened to catch it up. You may catch up more about Dubai here on my Instagram.
I went to watch a stunt show last night but didn’t get any seats. We ended up standing throughout the show and I think that spoiled the fun a bit. Still it was a good one.
On my blog:
I surprised myself this week by being super planned with respect to my blog. I had three scheduled drafts that went as per the plan. It may not be a big deal for most of you, normal and organized people, but this is the first ever time like that has happened in my blog. So that is a great win.
For all you The Handmaid’s Tale fans the book finally gets a sequel and from Margaret Atwood herself, called Testaments narrated by three women. I can’t wait. Her official FB Page here.
Yet another Sunday and here I am to update the happenings in my colorful life from Dubai.
We have guests staying over this month and that means you may get to see more of the places we take them to visit around Dubai. I love this time in Dubai when it is not too cold that we have to bring out the sweaters nor too hot that we can’t walk around the city in the noon.
Last week we visited Gold Souq which means Gold market and as I have told you already, we in Dubai are the definition of Over the Top. Yes we are and when I say Gold souq, imagine a spice market with wares displayed out in the open and sellers calling out to you but with gold.
Too hard to believe? I, for once, remembered to take pictures for you guys. Here I go:
I will try and bring more updates and pictures from my city in the upcoming weeks.
If you like what you see, you should consider following my new Instagram account (yes I finally jumped in) where I will post more of these and books as well. At least, I plan to do that.
While there were so many awesome posts that I read this week, these are some of my favorites. If I don’t follow your blog yet, let me know and I will make amends right away.
I know the fall just started, but now it is already winter. I mean as much a winter as this desert Dubai would get to. Of course it is gonna get colder as it goes, and I can’t say enough how much I love this pleasant winter, instead of the harsh summer that is usual around here.
What I read this week:
This week was a slow in terms of reading for me. I have not even finished Young Jane Young, which I started last Sunday. Well, life happened.
What I watched this week:
And I watched the Handmaid’s tale season 2. The series goes beyond the book and continues the story of Offred and Gilead. While I liked it, I am not sure it is for the faint hearted. It was depressing as much as it kept me intrigued.
I finally finished watching the Heist season 2, the Spanish and the ending was so satisfactory. How many times do we see a perfect heist? Sigh.

Here is a quick recap of the week’s posts, in case you missed them.
On other news, I wrote a guest post on Clo’s Book Dragons 247 on things about blogging I wish I had known little earlier.
Around the blogosphere
I didn’t do much of blog hopping this week, but here are some of the best ones I came across this week.
I love this book personality tag post from Simant at Flipping Thru The Pages. I was an ESTP the last time I checked, but you will have to wait for my answers.
Are you struggling to juggle between life and blogging? Check out Clo and Merv’s post @ Book Dragons 247 this week.
I love Margaret Atwood and I recently found she is celebrating her birthday this month from Consumed by Ink, as they host the Atwood reading month.
Check out Shanatala’s post on her blog Shanaya Tales about accepting paid book reviews which totally resonated to me.
You all know, I love morally gray characters. And the Orangutan Librarian’s post on Why can’t characters just be evil was just perfect.
